Our recent “Start up business” shoot was a great success. We had 5 models in total (2 can be seen in this image) representing various cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
All images were shot on location at a graphic design office in Surry Hills which had a wall of large windows giving us a beautiful natural light that was kept behind the models and overexposed a little to give the shots a bright contemporary look. To fill in the shadows we used our Elinchrom mono bloc flash units with octagonal soft boxes to create a soft natural looking feel.
The day was overcast, keeping the natural window light quite dim, so to keep our images bright we had our apertures set wide (f2.8 – f4.5). This helped create some wonderful lens flare effects and kept our depth of field very shallow. Due to the limited natural light, our shutter speeds were often quite slow, so a monopod was used to help stabilise the camera.
To create the cooler blue colour temperature, we set our white balance around 4200 Kelvin.
